NedHombro/IBV

System for functional assessment of the shoulder

Goals

At this moment, shoulder injuries are one of the most frequent pathologies that affect in daily life activities and in leisure. In the same way, the impact in the labor context is very high compared to other clinical disorders, since the majority of jobs demand repetitive tasks associated to charge in upper limbs. Statistically, 25% of the Spanish population suffers shoulder pains at least once during lifetime.

On the other side, when assessing and evaluating these injuries, there is the clinical exploration of the doctor and, if necessary, other diagnostic tests such as radiology or MRI. Nevertheless there are no tests determinating the functional behavior in a objective and reliable way.

Therefore, IBERMUTUAMUR and IBV developed the NedHombro/IBV system for functional assessment of the shoulder based in cinematic information about shoulder mobility. The system provides objective information and backup for the diagnosis of shoulder injuries associated to cronical pains.

Results

The developed application permits the functional assessment of persons with shoulder pain. The clinical report we obtain, permits to have information about:

  • Evolutional control of the patients
  • Effectiveness of the treatments
  • Development of research areas orientated to rehabilitation and functional assessment

NedHombro/IBV gives us the opportunity to design the most effective rehabilitation exercises program and to control objectively the condition and evolution of the patient during the rehabilitation treatment.
