Hand strength and fatigue analysis on healthy Spanish
The IBV has, within the application Ned / IBV for assessment of disability, the dynamometer NedVEP / IBV to assess the ability of the hand muscle for the gripping, lateral clipping and distal clipping. The equipment and the measurement protocol follow the normative in the impairment assessment.
However, users expressed the need to supplement this information with normal bases in order to provide useful benchmarks for assessing patients. More specifically the objective was to obtain normal patterns which to compare the results, because the normal data available in the literature has not been obtained with the same protocol or from a Spanish population.
The IBV has developed the new application “NedMano”, which it is used within the equipment NedVEP/IBV and offers the following new features:
• A standardized measurement protocol.
• Reference values for each test, classified by sex, age and dominance based on data from spanish population.
• A test for hand muscle fatigue.
These new features allow to the rehabilitation specialist to obtain a more comprehensive assessment of the patient status and evolution.
