System for the functional assessment of the knee


Injuries of the knee joint are very common disorder, it affects especially sportsmen. The most frequent pathologies are meniscus, injury of the anterior cruciate ligament, twist of the medial collateral ligament and dislocations of the patella.

Practitioners base their diagnosis of the knee on medical examination, using test such as X-ray. All these tests provide very useful information to make a diagnosis, but they analyze the knee from an static point of view and they do not provide objective information about the knee's functionality.

In that way, in trauma- and sports medicine, there existed a necessity to evaluate objectively the functionality of the knee measuring force, mobility, power, propioception and gait.


The NedRodilla/IBV system integrates the most advanced biomechanic technology in analysis of human movements focussed on the functional assessment of the lower limb and, complementary, it uses a database of normality that compares the obtained information of the patient in order to characterize his movement pattern.

The system incorporates a method for statistical classification that is capable to distinguish between normal and pathological subjects with a high reliability grade (approximately 95%). The results of this examination are summarized in a clinical report, one for each of the tests performed and provides necessary information about the evaluation of the patient and his progress.
